The price must be right for Israel-Saudi normalization

Interviewed in Globes 14.09.2023, Meir Ben Shabbat says that Israel faces three challenges in normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia. One challenge is the Saudi demand for civil nuclear capabilities. Second is the need to maintain Israel’s qualitative advantage in view of Saudi desires for advanced weapons. Third is to maintain Israeli interests in the Palestinian arena, given the expectations in Riyadh for significant progress on this issue. Ben Shabbat argues that the cost of a peace deal must be shared among all the beneficiaries.
